Tom childs
Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Backing Vocals A.C.T. II 2017 - Present
At just 7 years old, Tom learned to play his first song, Steel Guitar Rag from his Dad, who also played guitar. His brother also had interest in music and began playing on pots and pans. This was the beginning of Tom’s first band. His first big venue came at the age of 13 when their band played a benefit at the Wahjamega Hospital in Caro Michigan. He was hooked on music and the stage from that point on. He has played in a number of bands performing country, rock and top 40. He has traveled from Detroit to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan playing small bars to auditoriums.
Some of his biggest moments were having the opportunity to be the opening band for the original Hank Williams band and his days with the band The Sidewalkers at the Roaring 20’s formerly Daniels Den. Tom and Evan played together in a couple of local bands in his earlier days, and Larry with the Sidewalkers. The Sidewalkers was a highly recognized band with their Blues Brothers and 50’s sets. Tom felt he had learned a lot from one of his favorite musicians, Doug Sheltraw in the band The Fadeaways. His proudest and happiest times were the band Childsplay, which he played along side of his sons, Tommy and Christopher on guitars, and his brother on drums. Writing songs and performing with his family has been a topper in his career. Larry and Evan reached out to Tom to perform in the A.C.T. ll project.
